We Care

Our common future

We Care

Sustainability and the environment mean a lot to us.

We live in a time where our common resources are under pressure. Designing and producing shoes requires energy and materials. Therefore, it means a lot to us that we strive to limit the imprint we leave behind when we produce our products.

Our dream is to be able to produce 100% sustainable products, but we must also recognize that even though we strive to limit the energy we use or use green energy when we can and use alternative production methods, we still have some way to go.

Energy consumption is part of the equation. Another focus is that the materials we use in our designs are as sustainable as possible. It is not an easy process, and it is a balancing act. On the one hand, we want to do everything we can to produce our products sustainably, and on the other hand, we want to give you, as a consumer, a delicious quality product. A product that can last for many years, and which has the good properties that for example leather provides. Properties such as beauty, comfort, strength and elasticity, or the strength and flexibility that traditional glue adds to the shoes.

It is currently not possible to produce shoes that are 100% sustainable, but we and many of our colleagues are in the process of developing or trying out alternative materials as a replacement for traditional glue and leather, and are working to reorganize production so that it uses much less harmful chemicals in the process, e.g. replacing chemicals with different types of vegetable dyes, or using glue extracted from mussels, using green energy and minimizing water consumption.

At Copenhagenshoes, we work hard and focused on creating a more sustainable and environmentally friendly production, and we always focus on designing and producing in a responsible and ethical way. In this way, we can give you a transparent and informed choice as a consumer, so you feel safe when choosing a pair of shoes from our “We Care” line.

We are proud of that approach, and we are proud of our Scandinavian heritage and values. We call it "We Care" - but basically, it's about: decency, honesty, and respect. With that, we try to make a difference - and we can all make a difference. Both you as a consumer and us as a producer. The choices we make now, together are important. Together we can do our part to choose green solutions and better alternatives - and together help to give our common world a better future.

That we make these choices now, it means a lot to us, and therefore we are working hard to support the above. Among other things by creating greater transparency and openness with our "We Care" policy.

With "We Care" we work to:
• Use renewable energy
• Reduce water consumption
• Reduce pollution
• Make our production more sustainable

Our shoe boxes are produced from recycled materials, and the majority of our laces are produced without the use of nickel and heavy metals.

All our styles and designs that bear our "We Care" logo are sewn in leather that is exclusively processed using sustainable methods.
For our products to have our "We Care" logo, the leather must be certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG) with either their "GOLD" or "SILVER" certification - which guarantees that we comply with the highest and most environmentally friendly standards set by LWG.
The "leather hides" we use comes from tanneries approved by the Leather Working Group.
